Flow send http request to sharepoint post

Yes, you can, and it is surprisingly easy if you know how. If you are new to this, read this blog post here. This will ensure you get a JSON payload with little metadata returned from SharePoint, reducing the size significantly.

You can access the data from the response by querying the body of the action. Alternatively, we can utilize the dynamic content panel. For the dynamic content dialog to be aware of the parameters, we would need to tell it. For the schema, we can click on Use sample payload to generate schema link to help us generate the schema. Since our value property is an array, we will use the Apply to each control to loop the items.

From the image above, we are able to access the value property and also the properties of individual item in the value array object like Title. Tags: Microsoft Flow. All Rights Reserved. New User? Sign Up Sign In.

I construct the Uri in my Power App from the users requirements and pass it to the flow, it works perfectly most of the time. The parts the user selects are the variables inside "substringof" and the limit of records to return. I would understand if this came up every time, but it seems to appear with only a few selections that don't seem to have anything in common. Go to Solution. One option I thought of when seeing that the "1" was user provided - have you tried to enforce that a minimum of 2 digits must be provided, thus the limit may not be reached or more seldom.

View solution in original post. Unfortunately due to the data, i cant enforce that without them missing things off a search. It did give me an idea to cleanse the data more and enforce some other rules though, so cheers for the idea! Click for the top entries.

If you find any errors yourself then please leave as comment below and I will add it to the list of common error messages. Quite often you can ignore these errors. The file mentioned is likely to be updated by your flow at the same time by multiple instances of the flow.

The failing flow is trying to update the file while a second instance of the flow is trying to update the file too.

As long as you have flows that are triggered by the modification of the document you should be ok. If you have multiple flow instances trying to update the document at the same time you will find that the other instance is successful.

When you get the errors, there will be a user that is still updating a document while your flow is trying to update the document too. As long as the user is still saving the document after this failure you should be ok.

There can be multiple reasons for this error.

Send Email To SharePoint Groups From MS Flow

The most obvious reason is that the document that Flow is trying to update has been deleted. Alternatively Flow might not have the right permissions to the document. You get this error when you try to send data in the body to SharePoint, however the format of the body is incorrect. Then quite quickly you can see which data is expected in the body of your HTTP request.

This is one of my favourites! Hi Pieter, came across your blog from searching on error in Flow. Thanks in advance if anything comes to mind! Hi Theresa, Can you send me an email with a screenshot of the flow in edit mode and run mode of the failing step?

Please email me on contact veenstra. I also created a document library and gave that information here for Documents but same result. What I am doing wrong? This can not be complicated!! I have got Documents folder and also have got other folders which I created using SharePoint! But none of them work with respect to the url what you mentioned!

Would really appreciate if you got it! Using that creates a folder called Review Document Library template! It is learning but again sometimes feel Microsoft is using developers all over the world to test!

I will not go into the details how to create PowerApps and associate a Flow with it, because we have already seen this in our earlier blogs. And both the flows will be associate with button trigger action of a PowerApps solution. Once you are done with the above steps than try to test run the flow. In flow history you will able to see that it has been successful and created an item in to the SharePoint list as shown below. Now we will see how to delete an item using flow by calling an HTTP request.

Once we are done with the above configuration then we will run the workflow. When we try to test run the workflow it will ask for the Item ID which needs to be deleted as shown in below figure. After providing the item ID, the related item will be deleted from the list.

About The Author. One advantage of using REST is that you don't have to add references to any SharePoint libraries or client assemblies. Instead, you make HTTP requests to the appropriate endpoints to retrieve or update SharePoint entities, such as webs, lists, and list items. For a sample that shows you how to do many of these operations in the context of an ASP.

For POST operations, any properties that are not required are set to their default values. If you attempt to set a read-only property as part of a POST operation, the service returns an exception. For MERGE requests, setting properties is optional; any properties that you do not explicitly set retain their current property. For PUT commands, however, any properties you do not explicitly set are set to their default properties.

In the case of recyclable objects, such as lists, files, and list items, this results in a Recycle operation. It also assumes that you have a valid OAuth access token that is stored in the accessToken variable. You do not need the access token if you make this call from inside an add-in web, as you would in a SharePoint-hosted add-in.

Note that you cannot obtain an access token from code that is running on a browser client. You must obtain the access token from code that is running on a server.

This request would look a little different if you are writing your add-in in JavaScript while using the SharePoint cross-domain library. In this case, you don't need to provide an access token. The following code demonstrates how this request would look if you are using the cross-domain library and want to receive the OData representation of the lists as XML instead of JSON. Because Atom is the default response format, you don't have to include an Accept header.

For more information about using the cross-domain library, see Access SharePoint data from add-ins using the cross-domain library. The code in the following example shows you how to request a JSON representation of all of the lists in a site by using C. It assumes that you have an OAuth access token that you are storing in the accessToken variable.

Many property values are returned when you retrieve a resource, but for some properties, you have to send a GET request directly to the property endpoint. This is typical of properties that represent SharePoint entities.

The following example shows how to get a property by appending the property name to the resource endpoint. The example gets the value of the Author property from a File resource. One key difference, however, is that you use a POST request. When you create or update an entity, you must provide an OData representation of the entity that you want to create or change in the body of your HTTP request.

Another important consideration when creating, updating, and deleting SharePoint entities is that if you aren't using OAuth to authorize your requests, these operations require the server's request form digest value as the value of the X-RequestDigest header.By using our site, you acknowledge that you have read and understand our Cookie PolicyPrivacy Policyand our Terms of Service. This is a common issue where people use one account to update the flows in Microsoft Flow and then all modified by accounts are set to the flow author. Although I might not be able to avoid it being set to the flow author, I might be able to set it back, although most likely you are updating the triggering item from within the flow.

For my test I simply went to modify a list item and then visited the …. This of course could also be done within Microsoft Flow. Simply take your people field and add a postfix of Id. Ok, that is easy! There is one important note however to update the Modified By user you will need to be site collection administrator. Therefore if you need a flow to update the Modified By user within your flow then you might want to create it as an administrator.

Microsoft Flow — How to clear fields in SharePoint list items. Thanks for this Pieter! Maybe a stupid question here, but does this mean you need to know the previous modifier each time? But in the workflow above it looks like it would be static, no? Hi Silvie, I would expect that when a person trigger a flow that the current modified by user is the actual user that you are interested in, but I might be missing something.

John Smith uploads a document and the flow is automatically triggered, however because I created the flow, the Modified By changes to me. I just want the Modified By to be John Smith.

But I need this to work for all of my users, so I need it to be dynamic. Does that make sense? If it is exit out from the flow. Then when you do an updates make sure that you set the modified by owner as described in this article.
